Progeny Ag Products is proud to introduce two new wheat lines for planting this year, providing growers with locally-bred varieties that combine excellent yield potential and valuable agronomic characteristics.
The new varieties, #BLAZE and #FURY, join Progeny’s already strong wheat variety portfolio for the South.
“#BLAZE is a new bearded variety that brings the heat with medium-to-early maturity and a heavy test weight, said Brian Murray, Progeny Ag Products Production Manager. “It features a strong disease package, including Fhb1 scab resistance for the Mid-South and East Coast, so farmers can expect #BLAZE to show up and show strong.”
In addition, #BLAZE tillers well under stressful conditions.
The other new Progeny variety, #Fury, also is attracting interest because of its disease package, as well as its overall performance potential in the Mid-South, said Murray.
“#FURY is a medium-maturing variety that’s non-bearded with uniform plant height,” he said. “It’s equipped to fight through challenging diseases, with its resistance to Leaf and Stripe Rust, to provide farmers unrivaled performance. It also has shown excellent standability in high-yield environments.”
Both varieties are recommended for all soil types, he added. They join #TURBO, #BOSS, #BULLET and #WARRIOR in the Progeny Ag Products wheat lineup.
“We believe farmers in the South appreciate the fact Progeny varieties are bred to perform in this region and that our seed is produced through a network of local growers that meet our quality standards, and not shipped in from other wheat areas,” said Murray. “Introducing these two new, high performance wheat varieties is just another way we are fulfilling our goal of bringing the best products to farmers.”
