Dual-Purpose Weed, Production Meeting Set for Feb. 3

POCAHONTAS, Ark.-(UACES)--An upcoming herbicide-resistant weed meeting Feb. 3 in Pocahontas, Ark. will focus on pigweeds, barnyardgrass and ryegrass, followed by production updates on corn, sorghum, soybeans and rice.

Both events are part of the same meeting at the Black River Technical College Auditorium, and will feature several discussion topics presented by scientists and experts for the University of Arkansas System Division of Agriculture.

The herbicide-resistant weed meeting begins at 9:00 a.m. Crop production updates will follow after lunch, beginning at 1:15 p.m. A complete schedule of events follows below:

* 9:00 a.m. -- Welcome
* "Controlling pigweed in rice and soybeans" -- Dr. Bob Scott, extension weed scientist, U of A
* "Controlling pigweed in corn and sorghum" -- Dr. Ken Smith, extension weed scientist, U of A
