Rice Technical Working Group to Host Latest Research, Training

HOT SPRINGS, Ark.-(UACES)--The latest research and trends in rice research will be up for discussion at the 34th annual Rice Technical Working Group (RTWG), held Monday, Feb. 27 in Hot Springs.

Certified Crop Advisor training will also be available. The CCA certification was established in 1992 to provide a benchmark for practicing agronomy professionals in the U.S. and Canada.

"The RTWG and CCA training provide rice consultants the unique opportunity to interact with researchers and extension specialists from all areas of the United States," said Trent Roberts, assistant professor-soil fertility/testing for the University of Arkansas System Division of Agriculture.

Presenters this year will be focused on emerging issues directly influencing the domestic rice industry, such as improving water quality and mitigating greenhouse gas emissions.

"The great thing about this session is that it's specific to rice and covers all of the important issues facing our industry," said Roberts.
